Plummer Lott
Plummer E. Lott is a former justice on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department. He retired in 2014.[1][2]
He was appointed to the court by former Governor David Paterson and assumed office on March 19, 2009.[3] Lott was retained in 2008.[4]
Education
Lott received his undergraduate degree in political science from Seattle University in 1969 and his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 1974.[5][3]
Career
Lott began his legal career as a legal editor for the Matthew Bender Company. He also worked with the law firm Wilson, Edelman, Elser and Dicker before becoming an assistant district attorney for Queens County in 1978. In 1981, he began working for the New York City Human Resources Administration as an assistant general counsel. Lott then worked as a criminal defense lawyer from 1983 to 1991. From 1991 until his election to the Supreme Court of the State of New York, he served as a judge for the New York City Criminal Court. In 1995, he assumed the bench on the Supreme Court of the State of New York in Kings County, where he served until his appointment to the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division in 2009.[3][5]
Lott is also a former NBA basketball player. He played for the Seattle SuperSonics for two seasons, from 1967 to 1969.[6]
