I am a lifelong West Virginian (by choice) having lived chiefly in communities within the southern coalfields of the state. My work has been in public education, out-patient clinical, psychiatric in-patient and school counseling. I have considerable experience serving on a number of public advisory boards and steering committees. Additionally I chaired and have served on task forces that have procured funding for senior high rises, hospice programs and community food bank initiatives.
  • Far too many West Virginians live in poverty, lacking adequate resources to provide proper nutrition, housing, healthcare, education and transportation for their families. This is an unacceptable reality and must be addressed by lawmakers.
  • Powerful corporate interests dominate the political landscape in WV fueling a lopsided emphasis on prosperity for the privileged few at the expense of the middle class and below. Championing the successes for the majority of West Virginians is no longer a political priority.
  • Mountaineers, rugged pioneers that they are, have been stripped of their powerful proud and noble spirit. As this has happened these fine people have faced discouragement and despair. Many have compromised long-held values and resorted to illegal activity to support their families. The plight of our heroic people worsens with every successive generation. This problem but be addressed by our legislators in a revolutionary movement to reverse this downward trend through training and job creation, enhanced public transportation, accessible drug/alcohol recovery programs and community service initiatives.
My priest who is the purest, dearest, loving soul I have ever met.
Integrity, a spiritual foundation and a loving heart that is willing to give whatever is needed to achieve honest ends for the common good of West Virginians.
A tireless belief in the role of democracy in United States.
An improved quality of life for West Virginians.
Babysitting for my parents’ friends and neighbors as a teenager.
A hardy exchange between a governor who stays within the established boundaries of his/her role and a legislature that does likewise.
Staunching the loss of population and inspiring our youth to stay and to procure jobs for our exported children to return.
1) A client at our food bank would bring her breathalyzer to do treatments at our center because her electricity had been cut off because of unpaid balance.

2) An elderly woman told me she had to choose between coffee and dog food.

3) An old woman seen collecting empty drink cans in a yard bag along the side of the road in the rain on a 36 degree morning in McDowell Co.
Waiving student loan debt to physicians who would agree to 5 years of service to outlying clinics in the state.
Education and Healthcare
If transparency is not important to you, you have no business in the political arena.
