Pontiac Community School District Property Tax Increase (February 2010)
There was a Pontiac Community School District Property Tax Increase measure on the February 2 ballot in Livingston County for voters in the Pontiac school district.
This measure sought to increase the property tax extension limitation to .50 percent above its current rate.[1] A large community group had come out to push this measure for a yes vote because they saw the needs of the schools as the foundation for the community at whole. While controversy had arisen with the school superintendent, community school activists were hoping to separate this measure from that issue and get voters to see this as for supporting the school and not the superintendent. There was a push to get the superintendent recalled, but first activists wanted to see this measure passed.[2]
