Port of Umatilla Tax Rate Increase, 2009
A Port of Umatilla Tax Rate Increase was on the November 3, 2009 ballot in Umatilla County for Port of Umatilla voters. The measure called for a permanent tax rate limit of 45 cents per $1,000 of assessed value beginning in 2010-2011.
For the past 20 years the rate has been 15 cents per $1,000 of assessed value. The port commission agreed to place the measure on the ballot in April 2009. The tax increase, said port officials, is necessary because "The current demand for services provided by the Port of Umatilla exceeds the revenue available for service delivery."[1]
