The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was July 10, 2014. Incumbent Kenneth Zebrowski defeated Pottakulathu T. Thomas in the Democratic primary, while Matthew I. Brennan was unopposed in the Republican primary. Zebrowski also ran on the Working Families Party and Preserve Hudson Party (PHP) tickets. Zebrowski defeated Brennan in the general election.[1][2][3]
