Prince Cleveland is a native Alabamian who has dedicated his life to servant leadership and effecting positive change in his community. He grew up in Bessemer where he graduated from Jess Lanier High School. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration degrees from The University of Alabama. When he hears the call of service, Prince answers. He is an active member of New Hope Baptist Church. He currently serves on the UAB Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center Young Professionals Board, The Blackburn Institute Advisory Board, The University of Alabama Community Affairs Board of Advisors, and the American Legion Alabama Boys State Program. He serves on the board of directors for the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship of Alabama and is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Prince is also a member of the Alabama Leadership Initiative’s 2019 Class.
  • Alabama is one of only three states that impose the full state sales tax rate on groceries. With rising inflation squeezing incomes at all levels, eliminating the grocery tax will help families put more food on the table and afford basic needs.
  • Our relatives in nursing homes and our neighbors caring for their terminally ill loved ones are struggling with high healthcare costs. We must take advantage of federal dollars available to expand Medicaid so that we can provide much-needed relief for our most vulnerable citizens.
  • Our students and teachers are in great need of support to be successful and competitive. We must protect the Education Trust Fund, prioritize its revenue toward successful educational initiatives, and invest in innovative educational resources.
