Protect Missouri Employee Paychecks from Politics Act, 2008-037, was a legislative referred state statute that did not make the November 4, 2008 ballot. The measure would have ensured no public or private employer in the state deduct or facilitate the deduction of moneys from any employee's paycheck for political purposes without the express annual written permission of the employee.
Improper deductions for political purposes or inaccurate statements regarding the use of employer-collected moneys for political purposes would have been subject to a fine no greater than ten thousand dollars per occurrence.
Fiscal impact: It was estimated this proposal would have cost state governmental entities $69,428 annually. It was estimated this proposal would have had no costs or savings to local governmental entities.

This initiative failed to submit enough signatures to qualify for the ballot.
