Each year, the government issues a report detailing revenue amounts by source for each of the fifty states and the District of Columbia. Below are tables that collect these data, both in the form of dollar amount and percentages by source.

Fiscal year 2013

Public school system revenues in dollars

During fiscal year 2013, California received greater public education revenue than any other state in the country, while Wyoming received the lowest total revenue.

The table below provides information on public education revenue in dollar amounts throughout the country. All amounts listed below are in thousands of dollars. For example, if the chart displays the number "$400,000," it would translate into "$400,000,000."

Fiscal year 2011

The following table lists the amount of revenue generated for education in dollar amounts and percentages by source. California received the highest amount of revenue from the federal government and the state government, while New York received the highest amount of revenue from local government sources during fiscal year 2011.
