A Pueblo County School District 70 Bond Measure was on the November 1, 2011 ballot in the school district 70 area of Pueblo County.

This measure was defeated

This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $35 million in order to help pay for capital improvement projects in the district such as building a multipurpose facility, making security improvements as needed and outdoor education facilities. Though school officials noted that it was never a good time to ask residents for more money, the need was there for the school and they are hopeful the community will support them.

Proponents of the bond noted that the money would have been used to help with much needed facility improvements and would make the school better academically as well. Also noted that the school needs to be kept up to par in order to compete with neighbor districts and attract new students. If this measure had been approved, along with the levy override, average homeowners would have paid an addition of $7 a month on their property taxes.

Current Statewide

A 2013 statewide measure, Amendment 66, would authorize Colorado to increase taxes with an expected revenue increase of $950 million for school funding.
