What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
Increase safety measures in order to decrease crime Provide funding for schools to pay teachers and support staff a fair wage and bring current technology to schools Find ways to improve infrastructure especially drainage to appeal to business and decrease insurance
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
As a teacher education is key. Knowledge is crucial in building a desirable society. Not everyone is or should go to college but they can be job ready and literate in coping with real life.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to my parents. They have been married for over 51 years, they attend church regularly and are hard workers. My parents are humble and did everything to keep a roof over our heads, food in our mouths, and compassion in our hearts.
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
I believe a elected official needs to be a servant leader. They have to independent in order to serve their community and not a party.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I'm compassionate, educated, empathetic, practical, a good listener, a multi tasker, and full of common sense.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
The core responsibility is to listen to constituents and represent their interests in Baton Rouge through compromise and negotiation without quitting.
What legacy would you like to leave?
I would like to be known as a strong defender of the people who helped this state prosper.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
I remember being at school watching the Challenger being launched and how quickly hope shifted to despair.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
I was a teen board model at Maison Blanche during my junior and senior years of high school.
What happened on your most awkward date?
I fell in love.
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
I really love St. Patrick's Day mostly because green is my favorite color. But it's just a wonderful celebration that everyone can enjoy.
What is your favorite book? Why?
Currently I'm crazy about the Lilac Girls. I love historical fiction but this story tells the tales of women from different backgrounds intersecting and the strength of the human spirit.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?
Sleeping Beauty through no fault of her own she was given a heavy burden but had a destiny to unite her people.
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
I have a chair that belonged to my grandmother and her mother before her. It just means the world to me.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
Losing those I care about the most.
Every state besides Nebraska has two legislative chambers. What do you consider the most important differences between the legislative chambers in your state?
The legislature represents a smaller population and has to ability to personalize the needs of that community.
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?
I think it depends on the person. Some can learn by observing other may have to make their own mistakes.
What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?
Bringing Louisiana up from last place battles in education, opportunity, and development.
What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature?
Mutual respect and constructive opposition
Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.
I think once in office party lines should be erased in order to work in cooperation with all legislators.
What process do you favor for redistricting?
I think redistricting should include permanent residents and not those in temporary situations.
If you are not a current legislator, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?
I would be honored to be a part of any.
If you are not currently a member of your party’s leadership in the legislature, would you be interested in joining the leadership? If so, in what role?

Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
I believe the majority of legislators act in support of the people and that too is my intention.
Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?
Anything is possible but I would like to focus on the near future.
Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
In my canvassing I found people who just wanted to be heard.
