R. Ferrell Cothran, Jr.
R. Ferrell Cothran, Jr. is a circuit court judge for the Third Judicial Circuit in South Carolina.[1] He was elected to the court by the South Carolina General Assembly on February 15, 2006, and assumed office on October 2, 2006.[2] He was re-elected in 2022.[3][4]
Education
Cothran received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina in 1974 and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1977.[2]
Career
Prior to joining the court, Cothran practiced law at his firm of Cothran, Chandler & Cothran, which became the firm of Cothran & Cothran in the early 1980s. He also previously served as a county attorney and later as the assistant solicitor for Clarendon County from 1979 until his election to the court in 2006.[2]
