R. Lee Smith is a judge on the Seventh Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed by Republican Governor Rick Scott on April 22, 2016, to succeed Judge J. David Walsh, who retired in February.[1]
Biography
Smith received a bachelor's degree from Florida State University and a J.D. from the Florida Coastal School of Law. From 2009 until his judicial appointment in 2016, he worked for the Fourth Judicial Circuit as an assistant state attorney and as the chief of the Traffic Homicide Division. His professional experience also includes serving as an assistant state attorney for the Seventh Judicial Circuit from 2007 to 2008 and as legislative counsel for Congressman Ander Crenshaw (R) from 2002 to 2007.[1]
