RAND PAC, an acronym for Reinventing a New Direction PAC, is a leadership political action committee aimed at raising and distributing money to candidates in support of U.S. Senator Rand Paul's (R-Ky.) vision "to balance the Federal budget and return government to it’s limited, Constitutional scope." The PAC is based in Newport, Kentucky.[2][3]

Mission

According to the organization's website, "RAND PAC’s mission is to support and elect Pro-Liberty, Pro-Constitution candidates in Kentucky and across the country."[2]

As a political action committee, RAND PAC can raise and spend money on elections, but the group is not run by a party or an individual candidate. The PAC can donate money to parties or candidates it supports.[4]

2016 elections

As of early July 2016, RAND PAC had not yet released its list of endorsed 2016 candidates.

According to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission, RAND PAC contributed to the Rand Paul Victory Committee, a combined fundraising committee established to support Rand Paul's 2016 presidential campaign and U.S. Senate race.[5][6]
