Harris was a 2012 independent candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 4th Congressional District of Oklahoma.

Biography

RJ Harris was born in California. He earned a high school diploma from Mesa High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2008 and a law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2012. Harris began serving with the U.S. Army National Guard in 1990 and is a combat veteran. He has also worked as an attorney, a small business owner, and an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration.[1][2]

Harris was defeated by incumbent Tom Cole in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Oklahoma's 4th District. He ran as an Independent. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5]

In August 2011, Harris launched his candidacy for the Libertarian nomination for President. He ended his presidential campaign in April 2012 and announced his congressional bid.[7]

CW4 Richardjason "RJ" S. Harris Esq. Born November 16, 1972 at March Air Force Base, Riverside, California, Rj's adopted home town is Miami, Oklahoma and he has lived in Norman, Oklahoma since 2006. Rj is an attorney with Redhawk Law in Norman, Oklahoma and an Air Traffic Control Officer for the Oklahoma National Guard, where he has served on 5 deployments and twice been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. Rj is also an air traffic and airspace researcher for NASA. Rj graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Western Philosophy, in 2008 and from the University Of Oklahoma College Of Law in 2012. Rj has been married to Jennifer R. Harris for 30 years and the couple have five children together ranging in ages from 27 to 14. Rj enjoys the company of his family for traditional holidays, at youth baseball events, playing board games at home with the kids and walking his dogs everyday. Rj and his children are decedents of the Kiowa and Muskogee Nations of Oklahoma.
  • I will always look first to the U.S. and Oklahoma Constitutions for the legal authority required before voting for any legislation and to find legislation counter to those documents that must be repealed. I will work for legislation that holds the government in check rather than the People.
  • I will submit legislation which requires all jury instructions to educate jurors that they have the power and the duty to vote not guilty when unconstitutional laws and mandates are used to imprison and/or impoverish our citizens as was being done recently with the mask/vaccine mandates and business closures.
  • Finally, I will work to advance freedom over more government at every opportunity.
