Rachel A. Adams is a judge of the Kings County Supreme Court in the 2nd Judicial District of New York. She was elected to this position on November 8, 2011 (effective January 1) for a 14-year term ending on December 31, 2025.[1][2]

She previously served as an acting justice for the Kings County Supreme Court, Civil Term. She was appointed to that position in 2007. She also served on the New York City Civil Court from 2000.[3][4]

Adams was elected to the Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District on November 8th with 15.7% of the vote. She was cross-endorsed by the Democratic and Republican parties. Other successful candidates for the six open seats on the court were: Justice David Friedman, Justice Lawrence S. Knipel, Justice Betsy Barros, Acting Justice Johnny Lee Baynes, and Carl J. Landicino.[5][6][1]

Education

Adams received her J.D. degree from the Brooklyn Law School.[3]

Career

Adams was originally elected Judge of the New York City Civil Court in 2000. She also served on the Family Court of New York City from 2001 to 2003. She was then appointed acting justice of the Supreme Court, serving in Richmond County (13th District) until 2006 and then on the Kings County Family Court (2nd District) until 2007. Since 2007, Adams has served on the Kings County Supreme Court, Civil Term.[3]
