My name is Rachel Buck, I am the conservative District 9 candidate, ready to represent my constituents and protect individual freedoms. I am a fourth generation Idahoan who knows what real Idaho values are. I graduated from BSU with a Bachelors in Psychology and a certificate in Dispute Resolution. For nearly 2 decades I managed several law offices in Boise where I handled State and Federal cases, including the largest 9th district case in history. I have seen firsthand how Idaho’s laws and policies impact real people. I am running as a Democrat because our majority party has had 30 years to get it right and yet we are still working for tax relief, property rights, preservation of our drinking and irrigation water, protection of agriculture, public school funding, public lands, and access to quality health care. The expanding growth we are experiencing across the valley is only compounding these issues. Preservation of our land, water and air are non-partisan issues that are vital for Idaho’s success. I believe the best government is one that represents its citizens. When our lawmakers care more about catering to industry lobbyists than they do protecting Idaho families, we the people pay the price. Our constitutional rights are non-negotiable. We deserve representation that can conceptualize the impact of laws and will stand up for all D9 residents. I ask for your vote so your voice can matter and we can keep this great State of Idaho the place we love and call home.
  • Funding for public schools - I believe strongly in school choice but supporting private schools and/or homeschooling by draining public school funds is not only bad for our kids, but it’s a blatant violation of the Idaho constitution. I support school choice, but do NOT support funding for-profit private schools. It is our constitutional duty to provide “uniform public school system.” Private schools are not “uniform” nor “public.” I do not support accelerating one choice at the expense of the public school system. Vouchers are “budget busters” with no accountability. An educated populace is our future. I was on an IEP and believe we can offer assistance to ALL students. It is our duty as a society to ensure we foster education for all.
  • Water & Public lands - Water is a vital natural resource. We need to be diligent to protect “first in time, first in line” as that is the law. We must honor personal property rights and simultaneously use science to maintain the integrity of our best natural resource. We must be creative in fostering our farmers as well as the demand for growth. I strongly support keeping public lands, public and accessible for multi-purpose use. We are lucky to enjoy the vast beauty of Idaho’s pubic lands and it should remain that way for generations to come.
  • Health Care - There are 3 ways to evaluate any law: 1) The intended purpose, 2) The actual impact, 3) The cost. The maternal board will provide insights on the impact of these laws soon. Patients bear the brunt of the consequences through increased suffering and harm, as we have seen with the latest lawsuit(s). Women deserve autonomy, privacy, respect and understanding. Removing the decision of health care, doesn’t remove the need; instead the decision is made by the government. I support access to IVF.
Everything that impacts people. I hope to restore the notion of small government, provide transparency, and earn the trust of my constituents. I will never chose special interest groups or party platforms over people. I am eager to hear from my constituents.
Transparency. Courage to be a Stateswoman. Ability to conceptualize the broader impacts of laws.
September [11], 2001. I was a Freshman in high school. I remember watching the news in every class. Some of my graduating class enlisted and didn't come back, or didn't come back the same... I had brain surgery the same year, so I was unable to enlist in any capacity. I have made supporting our veterans a priority. I come from a family in all branches of the military. My father was in the Air Force.
Accessible/affordable housing, water integrity, and generational opportunities.
