|- Funding for public schools - I believe strongly in school choice but supporting private schools and/or homeschooling by draining public school funds is not only bad for our kids, but it’s a blatant violation of the Idaho constitution. I support school choice, but do NOT support funding for-profit private schools. It is our constitutional duty to provide “uniform public school system.” Private schools are not “uniform” nor “public.” I do not support accelerating one choice at the expense of the public school system. Vouchers are “budget busters” with no accountability. An educated populace is our future. I was on an IEP and believe we can offer assistance to ALL students. It is our duty as a society to ensure we foster education for all.
- Water & Public lands - Water is a vital natural resource. We need to be diligent to protect “first in time, first in line” as that is the law. We must honor personal property rights and simultaneously use science to maintain the integrity of our best natural resource. We must be creative in fostering our farmers as well as the demand for growth. I strongly support keeping public lands, public and accessible for multi-purpose use. We are lucky to enjoy the vast beauty of Idaho’s pubic lands and it should remain that way for generations to come.
- Health Care - There are 3 ways to evaluate any law: 1) The intended purpose, 2) The actual impact, 3) The cost. The maternal board will provide insights on the impact of these laws soon. Patients bear the brunt of the consequences through increased suffering and harm, as we have seen with the latest lawsuit(s). Women deserve autonomy, privacy, respect and understanding. Removing the decision of health care, doesn’t remove the need; instead the decision is made by the government. I support access to IVF.
