Ramona L. Emanuel is a judge of the 1st Judicial District in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. She was elected to this position in November of 1995, becoming the first female elected to this court.[1] She was re-elected without opposition in 2008 for a six-year term that ended on December 31, 2014.[2][3] She was re-elected in 2014 for a term beginning on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[4][5]

As an unopposed candidate, she was automatically re-elected without appearing on the ballot. [5]

Education

Emanuel received her B.A. from Louisiana State University prior to earning her J.D. from Southern University Law Center (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) in 1986.[1][6]

Career

Emanuel began her career as an attorney for a private law firm. She also worked as an attorney for Child Support Enforcement. Prior to her election to the district court in 1995, she worked as an administrative law judge for the Louisiana Department of Workers' Compensation.[1]
