Randall H. McEwen was a magistrate judge for the Twenty-Seventh Judicial District in Kansas.[1] He was elected magistrate judge in 2012.[2] McEwen retired on July 10, 2015.[3]

Education

McEwen received both his undergraduate and J.D. degrees from the University of Kansas.[4]

Career

Prior to becoming a magistrate judge, McEwen served as a district judge for the Twenty-Seventh Judicial District. He was defeated in the 2010 election by challenger Trish Rose. McEwen previously worked in as an attorney in private practice at the firms of Arnhold and McEwen Law Office and the Randall H. McEwen Law Office. He has also worked at Legal Services for Prisoners, the Credit Bureau of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse.[5]

Elections

2012

McEwen was elected with 55 percent of the vote to the office of magistrate judge for the Twenty-Seventh Judicial District in 2012. He defeated opponent Ron Hagen who received 45 percent of the vote.[2][6]

2010

McEwen ran for re-election to the office of district judge of the Twenty-Seventh Judicial District in 2010. He lost the Democratic primary to Trish Rose, who received 55 percent of the vote.[7][8]
