Randall Iwase was the chair of the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission. He was appointed to the position by Gov. David Ige (D) in January 2015. Iwase retired in December 2018.[1][2]

Career

Prior to his appointment to the commission, Iwase served as the chair of the Hawaii State Tax Review and the Hawaii Labor and Industrial Relations Appeals Board. He previously worked as a deputy attorney general providing legal counsel to the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission. Iwase served in the Hawaii State Senate from 1990 to 2000 and the Honolulu City Council from 1986 to 1988.[3][4]

Iwase was appointed to the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission by Gov. David Ige (D) in January 2015.[1] In an interview with Pacific Business News, Iwase noted that he jumped back into public service because he was concerned about the future of the state's energy industry for his children and grandchildren.[5] He retired in December 2018 to spend more time with his family.[2]
