Randy Asbury (b. October 4, 1958) is a former Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 22 from 2011 to 2013. In February, 2015, Asbury announced that he was seeking the Republican nomination for Governor of Missouri in 2016. He dropped out of the race on September 25, 2015.[1][2]

Asbury's professional experience includes working as an executive director at Coalition to Protect the Missouri River. Asbury earned his B.S. in agriculture from the University of Missouri.[3]

No New Taxes Pledge

A minority of Missouri lawmakers signed the 2011 edition of the "No New Taxes Pledge." The Taxpayer Protection Pledge is offered by the nonprofit lobbying organization Americans for Tax Reform with the goal of opposing all tax increases as a matter of principle. Just one out of 34 state Senate members signed the 2011 pledge. Out of 163 state House members, only 38 lawmakers signed.

Asbury signed the pledge.[4]

In February, 2015, Asbury entered the race for governor of Missouri, seeking the Republican nomination. He suspended his campaign on September 25, 2015. He had been lagging behind other candidates in fundraising when he dropped out. Other Republicans running include Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder, former state Speaker of the House Catherine Hanaway, state Senator Bob Dixon, businessman John Brunner and Eric Greitens, a former Navy SEAL and nonprofit CEO.[1][2][5]

On November 2, 2010, Asbury won election to the Missouri House of Representatives. Asbury's opponents in the August 3 primary were Tim Remole and Doug Farnen.
