Hogsed was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 120 of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He ran unsuccessfully for the same seat in 2010.

Elections for the North Carolina House of Representatives took place in 2016. The primary election was held on March 15, 2016, and the general election was held on November 8, 2016.[1] The candidate filing deadline was December 21, 2015.[2] Incumbent Roger West (R) did not seek re-election.
