Campaign issues

The following issue statements were found on Stufflebeam's official campaign website. For a full list of issue statements, click here.

Sanctity of Life
I am 100% Pro-Life, without exception!
ALL Human life is precious!! The first premise of government is the responsibility to protect ALL INNOCENT HUMAN LIFE; this includes the lives of both the unborn and those who are unable to protect themselves.
I stand for life without backing down. I will do everything within my power to protect life.

Accountability and Integrity
Undoubtedly, two of the most important aspects that are being talked about these days are Integrity and Accountability. We hear a lot of Illinois politicians talk about bringing Integrity and Accountability back to Illinois. Interestingly, it is by politicians whose integrity and accountability are in question.

I believe a person’s history is a VERY BIG indicator as to that person's character. There is a little thing (actually, a BIG thing) called trust. Trust is something that is earned, not given. If you want to know whether a person is trustworthy or not, you must take a look at their past; talk to the people who know them best.

People ask, "How can we be sure you will maintain your integrity?"

There are actually very few people that I really look up to, or consider to be “a hero”, but Billy Graham is one of them. One of the most important principles that Billy Graham established and has tremendously impacted my life was his creation of “Accountability Partners.” When Mr. Graham first started his ministry, he made a pact with two of his closest friends, Grady & T.W. Wilson, to be accountable and responsible to each other.

Agriculture
Agriculture is probably one of the single most important industries we have here in these UnitedState of America. And yet, agriculture is probably one of the hardest hit industries
I grew up in Canton, Illinois, which I have described as having grown up out in the middle of the cornfields. While it wasn’t excessively large, I helped my grandfather plow, disc and harrow his fields in preparation for planting. Once it was time for harvest, I also remember “peddling” sweet corn, tomatoes, and green beans. We were charging a whopping 50 cents for a dozen ears of sweet corn.
I also know what it is to “detassel corn” in the summer.
I absolutely believe in the family owned farms and I know that they are suffering and they are suffering from a federal government that refuses to conduct itself according to the Constitution.
Now, I will admit that I need to learn a considerable more in dealing with the international issue of agriculture. But I can tell you this:

  • I will support our farmers and help them to be independent.
  • I believe that being subsidized is an insult to our American farmers and gives government too much control. However, the only way we can do that is to act on the next bullet.
  • I will stand against CAFTA, NAFTA and other international treaties and agreements which is a danger to our farmers and our American way of life.

The way I see it, if things continue in the way things are going, state farm won’t just be an insurance company, but will be the only way that farms operate.[3]
