As a proud resident of Denton County for over 30 years, I am deeply rooted and committed to our community. With a career in law enforcement spanning since 1992, I bring extensive experience and dedication to the role of Constable. My work has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to ensure public safety and uphold the principles of fairness, equality, and legality.

Beyond my professional life, I have been actively involved in our community over the years as a youth league coach and mentor. Serving also as a volunteer in several of our local schools, my church and other community service organizations. Reflecting my commitment to shaping a positive future for our children and communities. Guided by deep faith and authenticity, I aim to enhance public safety services through increased collaboration, transparency and regular community engagement. Together, we can build a safer, more connected Denton County, bringing unity to our community.

Join me in this journey to safeguard our community and ensure the well-being of all residents.

Together, we can make a difference.
  • Experienced Local Leadership: Funches emphasizes his deep roots in Denton County and his extensive law enforcement career, which began in 1992. positioning himself as a candidate who understands local needs and values, combining community knowledge with professional expertise.
  • Community-Focused Policing: Funches advocates for a policing approach that prioritizes community engagement and transparency. He plans to implement regular community meetings and feedback sessions, focusing on proactive problem-solving rather than reactive policing, and most importantly serving with compassion to bring unity to the community.
  • Faith-Driven Integrity: Funches highlights his strong moral compass and dedication to fairness and compassion in law enforcement. He emphasizes his commitment to ethical decision-making, equal treatment under the law, and operational transparency.
As a long-time Denton County resident & career law enforcement officer, I'm passionate about several areas that impact our community. I do want to emphasize that a Constable's role is to uphold existing laws, not create new ones. In this framework, I'm passionate about: Prioritizing a safe community while building trust and cooperation between the Constable's office and the residents and businesses it serves. Focusing on mentorship and supporting initiatives that guide youth and families towards positive outcomes. Transparent and accountable law enforcement: Ensuring that our office operates with the highest level of integrity as we provide public safety services to all members of our diverse communities.
I recommend the book “The Servant: A Simple Story About the True Essence of Leadership” by James C. Hunter. It emphasizes servant leadership, which aligns with my philosophy that leaders should serve the people they represent and make decisions that are in the best interest of their community. This approach guides my actions in law enforcement and community service, putting the needs and well-being of the community first.
As a candidate for Denton County Constable, I believe the most important characteristics and principles for an elected official, particularly in law enforcement, are:

Integrity: Unwavering commitment to ethical behavior and moral principles, both in professional duties and personal life.
Accountability: Willingness to take responsibility for one's actions and decisions, and to be transparent with the public.
Community focus: Deep understanding of and commitment to the community being served, with an emphasis on building trust and fostering positive relationships.
Fairness and impartiality: Dedication to applying the law equally and without bias, ensuring justice for all community members.
Professionalism: Maintaining high standards of conduct, continual self-improvement, and respect for the office and the law.
Compassion: The ability to understand and respond to the needs of community members with empathy and understanding.
Leadership: The capacity to inspire and guide others, particularly in challenging situations.

These principles align with my '30 Years in Denton County, 30+ Years in Law Enforcement' experience, and my commitment to 'Building Bridges, Not Barriers' in our community. As Constable, I would strive to embody these characteristics in service to Precinct 6.
The qualities I believe would make me a successful officeholder include integrity, community engagement, and dedication. My integrity drives me to make fair and just decisions, always putting the community’s well-being first. I have a deep understanding of the needs of the community from over 30 years as an involved resident and parent who has mentored and coached local youth sports, served as a community volunteer and carried out duties in law enforcement. This has given me the skills to build trust and foster strong relationships. Lastly, my dedication to public service is unwavering; I’m committed to leading with compassion, listening to my neighbors, and ensuring the Constable’s office is a true resource for all.
As a candidate for Denton County Constable with over 30 years of law enforcement experience, I believe the core responsibilities of this office are:

Law Enforcement: Faithfully upholding and enforcing local, state, and federal laws within Precinct 6.
Court Duties: Serving warrants, subpoenas, and other court documents efficiently and professionally.
Community Safety: Proactively working to maintain peace and security in our neighborhoods.
Public Trust: Building and maintaining trust through transparent, ethical, and community-focused policing.
Resource Management: Efficiently managing the precinct's resources and personnel to best serve our community.
Interagency Cooperation: Collaborating effectively with other law enforcement agencies and local government offices.
Continuous Improvement: Staying updated on best practices in law enforcement and implementing ongoing training for deputies.

These responsibilities align with my commitment to 'Building Bridges, Not Barriers' in our community. As Constable, I would fulfill these duties with integrity, guided by my faith and dedication to justice, ensuring equal treatment under the law for all residents of Precinct 6.
Richard Fleming, Carrollton City Councilman & Mayor Pro Tem
As a candidate for Denton County Constable with over 30 years in law enforcement, I believe financial transparency and government accountability are paramount in maintaining public trust. These principles align with my campaign promise of 'Building Bridges, Not Barriers' between law enforcement and our community.

I firmly believe that:

All budget requests and expenditures should be clear, justified, and open to public scrutiny.
Elected officials must be accountable for their financial decisions and use of taxpayer resources.
There should be open communication between the Constable's office and county commissioners to ensure mutual understanding of budgetary needs and limitations.
Any use of public funds or resources should directly contribute to the core responsibilities of the Constable's office and benefit the community we serve.

If elected, I commit to maintaining the highest standards of financial transparency. I will ensure that all budget requests are thoroughly explained and justified, avoiding any misunderstandings or controversies. My '30 Years in Denton County' have taught me the importance of responsible stewardship of public resources.
