I am seeking your support for my nomination to City Council, District 1 of Northern Fremont, a community I have proudly called home since 1975. My parents, both high school educated and originally from northwestern India, moved from England to Fremont in pursuit of a better life. As a first-generation immigrant, I, along with my siblings and later my three wonderful children, attended Ardenwood Elementary School when it first opened its doors.

Over the decades, I have witnessed remarkable growth and transformation in our city. Once characterized by expansive farmlands and open fields where children could play freely until dusk, Fremont has evolved considerably. While growth brings both opportunities and challenges, my primary focus will be on enhancing public safety, addressing traffic and infrastructure needs, tackling homelessness, improving education, and elevating the overall quality of life in our cherished "Happiest City." As a licensed California attorney (BAR #269191), I bring strong communication and negotiation skills to the table. I own and manage Insight Legal, P.C., an established Fremont-based law firm focused on estate planning and corporate law, with significant experience in real estate matters. My professional ethos is grounded in honesty, integrity, and transparency—principles that guide my practice and interactions.

I have the necessary skills as an attorney which will suit well at City Hall.
  • Prevent Home Invasions and Auto Theft: I will work with City Hall and our police to increase their visible presence in our district.
  • Homelessness: Recent city budget figures suggest Fremont is not spending enough to make a substantial impact on our homelessness problem. I will push for proven programs to visibly reduce the homeless presence in Fremont.
  • Traffic and Infrastructure: I've been a resident of Fremont District 1 since 1975, my whole life. I've witnessed the poor city planning which has contributed to the bad traffic in our district and within the entire city of Fremont. I will work with city planners and experts to help ease the traffic congestion in Fremont.
Public Safety, Community Engagement, Homelessness, traffic, sustainable growth of our businesses and economy
I look up to my father who passed away of a heart attack during my first quarter of college. He wasn't very educated, but I knew if he had the opportunities I had, he would likely have become a doctor. He had a way to connect with all generations in life, be it little kids to seniors that would be his friends and actually ask him for advice. In fact, many people would ask him for advice. He was a problem solver, and I believe a lot of his traits rubbed off onto me, as I solve peoples' problems for a living.
Elected officials should have traits of honesty, integrity and transparency. As an attorney, I'm held to this higher standard by the California State BAR. An elected official is a fiduciary to the people they serve. As such, I believe they should also be held to this higher standard.
I have the ability to patiently listen with empathy and come up with multiple solutions for their problems. Some of my clients can be demanding and impatient, or even extremely particular, but I am able to remain calm and put myself in their shoes. This allows me to best tailor one or more solutions to address their concerns.
Anyone elected to this position should really listen and be engaged with the community they serve, and in this case, it is the people and businesses residing in Fremont. This person should also work well among his/her peers and colleagues in office and come up with thoughtful solutions to the everyday problems the city may face. This also requires empathy and listening to other suggested solutions, and coming to a mutual agreement that will best serve the community.
I have built my law practice over 5 years ago. We have a diverse number of clients in estate planning and corporate law. My goal is to pass my firm onto any of my children who decide to become an attorney. My older daughter plans to become and attorney and I believe her working as an intern made a big impression. I'm not just dad, but a professional that helps many people avoid probate, protect their legacies and their businesses.
I remember the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake which jolted the Bay Area and caused a lot of damage and loss of life. I was 15 years old and I remember I was doing my homework. I could hear the rumbling long before the shaking.
I worked at a fruit stand stocking groceries. The job was located in my home town of Fremont, District 1. It was demolished decades ago and now there are 3 story condos on that property.
I be somebody. I read this book in elementary school and it really stuck in my head like a song. With all the challenges and hurdles the protagonist faced, he knew within himself that he could be that somebody; it was a mindset.
If I could be a fictional character, it would be Maverick in Top Gun, the original 1986 movie. Maverick went through all kinds of struggles, be it the loss of a loved one, overcoming self doubt, overcoming challenges that once were thought of as impossible of slim to none, experiencing love ad support. This movie captures all emotions, especially making you feel that you just can't give up even when you feel like it.
It has been a struggle to live with little guidance. As the older child, a lot was put into my shoulders as the oldest child without a father. I felt I lost my role model and someone that could guide me. As I got older, I realized that I can be the best version of myself and there is no limit to what I can achieve. So long as I try my best and really want it, almost anything can be achieved.
Why do sweaters tend to hang out together? They're pretty close-knit.
Anyone in a government position should have financial transparency and government accountability just as a corporate fiduciary should to its shareholders. Government should work in the best interests of the people they serve vs. one's own narrow self interests.
