Raul Rodriguez (Texas)
Raul Rodriguez (Democratic Party) is a judge of the Harris County Criminal Court at Law No. 13 in Texas. He assumed office on January 1, 2019. His current term ends on December 31, 2026.
Rodriguez (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for judge of the Harris County Criminal Court at Law No. 13 in Texas. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Rodriguez was a 2016 candidate for the Texas 174th District Court in Texas.[1] He was defeated in the primary election on March 1, 2016. He also ran for the Harris County Criminal Court at Law in 2014.[2]
Biography
Rodriguez earned his J.D. from the South Texas College of Law in 1991. His professional experience includes working as an associate judge for the City of Houston and as an attorney.[3]

Selection method

Judges of the county courts are elected in partisan elections by the county they serve and serve four-year terms, with vacancies filled by a vote of the county commissioners.[4]
Qualifications
To serve on a county court, a judge must:[4]
- be at least 25 years old;
- be a resident of his or her respective county for at least two years; and
- have practiced law or served as a judge for at least four years preceding the election.
2016
Texas held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on March 1, 2016. A primary runoff election was held on May 24, 2016, for any seat where the top vote recipient did not receive a majority of the primary vote.[5] Hazel Jones defeated Raul Rodriguez and Mack McInnis in the Texas 174th District Court Democratic primary.[1]
