2017

In response to a question from KRIS-TV about his campaign priorities, Madrigal said, "I think the community of Corpus Christi wants to make sure that we have safe water for everybody. And this past year, we've seen where we've had, I think, four or five water boils, and one of them was for two weeks. Nobody wants to come to a community where they can't drink the water, so we've got to make sure that our citizens and the people that come and visit Corpus Christi are going to be able to stay here and enjoy Corpus Christi like we do and have safe drinking water."[17]

Madrigal also called for a restraining order against endorsements by public safety unions and the Corpus Christi Caller-Times in the mayoral race.[18]
