Raymond A. Batten
Raymond A. Batten was a judge on the Vicinage 1 Superior Court in New Jersey. He served on the criminal division of the Cape May County Court from 2002 to 2013. He was reassigned to be the presiding judge of the General Equity Division for Vicinage 1 in 2013. About the move, he said "Rotation is good for the judicial process. It enables judges to keep fresh in their subject matter".[1] Batten was initially appointed by Governor Jim Florio in 1992 and was reappointed for tenure in 1999. He retired on July 31, 2015.[2]
Education
Batten earned his J.D. from Widener University in 1979.[3]
Career
Batten joined the Vicinage 1 Superior Court in 1992. Prior to his judgeship, he was a 1st District assemblyman and municipal prosecutor.[4]
