Raymond Abramson is a judge for District 1 Position 1 of the Arkansas Court of Appeals. He assumed office in 2015. His current term ends on December 31, 2030.

Abramson won re-election for the District 1 Position 1 judge of the Arkansas Court of Appeals outright after the general election on May 24, 2022, was canceled.

Biography

Education

Abramson received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1973, and his J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1976.[1][2]

Career

Before Abramson was elected to his current seat on the Arkansas Court of Appeals, he was appointed by Governor Mike Beebe in June 2010 to fill a different seat vacated by Price Marshall. He retired from the court at the end of 2012, following an unsuccessful Arkansas Supreme Court bid. Before he became a judge, Abramson practiced law in Clarendon, Arkansas for 34 years. During that time he also served as a public defender for Monroe County, Clarendon Municipal Court Judge, Holly Grove Police Court Judge, and Holly Grove City Attorney. He also served as a special justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court.[1][2]

Abramson ran for associate justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court. He was defeated by Judge Josephine Hart in the election on May 22, 2012, receiving 34.61 percent of the vote.[4][5]
