Raymond Charles Clevenger III is a federal judge on senior status with the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He joined the court in 1990 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush. Clevenger assumed senior status on February 1, 2006.[1]

Clevenger graduated from Yale University with his bachelor's degree in 1959, and from Yale Law School with his LL.B degree in 1966.[1]

Clevenger was nominated by President George H.W. Bush on January 24, 1990 to a seat vacated by Oscar Davis upon Davis' death while in active judicial service. The American Bar Association rated Clevenger Substantial Majority Qualified, Minority Well Qualified for the nomination.[2] Hearings on Clevenger's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 4, 1990, and his nomination was reported by then-U.S. Senator Joseph Biden (D-Del.) on April 26, 1990. Clevenger was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 27, 1990, by unanimous consent. Clevenger received his commission on April 30, 1990.[3] Clevenger assumed senior status on February 1, 2006.[1][4]
