Raymond S. Childress

Raymond S. "Ray" Childress is the Division A judge of the 22nd Judicial District in Louisiana. He was elected to this position after running unopposed and was sworn in to office in October of 1998. He presides over the Washington Parish Drug Court and was the chair of the court's Family Court Committee.[1][2] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term beginning on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[3][4]

Education
Childress received his B.A. in history from Southeastern Louisiana University in December of 1972 and his J.D. from Loyola University Law School - New Orleans in May of 1979.[1]
Career
Childress began his career in 1979 as a private practice lawyer. His practice included insurance defense, plaintiff personal injury, domestic relations, real estate and criminal defense. He also spent two years as an assistant St. Tammany Parish District attorney. In 1998, he was elected to the district court.[1]
