Los Angeles, California: U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson, of the Central District of California, handed down a sentence to Ezri Namvar on Tuesday, October 11. Namvar was convicted of federal wire fraud charges in May for stealing around $20 million from four clients. The sentence received was seven years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He has also been asked to pay restitution to the victims of over $20 million. The sentence is a lesser one than what was sought by prosecutors, but Judge Anderson cited Namvar's lack of criminal history and the dozens of letters he received attesting to Namvar's character for reducing the sentence. Upon sentencing, Judge Anderson said of Navmar, "I think he lost his moral compass, and the courage to stand up and admit when you’re wrong."[1]
