Rebecca grew up in Richardson, Texas, earning her BA from the University of Texas, MSOM from University of Arkansas, and JD from Baylor University. She has spent more than 25 years in law, operations, and real estate development in the private sector. She has worked for Specialized Real Estate Group, Wal-Mart, and founded The Burkes Company – a successful residential & commercial real estate development, construction, and brokerage company.

Rebecca has a passion for serving in the public sector. She worked as a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin Law School & Luther College, and as Deputy Director and General Counsel for the Arkansas Department of Heritage.

Rebecca moved to Northwest Arkansas after law school, and currently lives in Springdale. She is married to Aaron Burkes, a former Arkansas State Representative and current CEO of the Northwest Arkansas National Airport. They have two adult sons, Nathan and Nicholas, and enjoy spending time outdoors and hiking on the trail system in the area.
  • Small business growth and entrepreneurship are the lifeblood of this region. As a small business owner, I know the twin burdens of taxes and regulations. I will work to eliminate burdensome regulations and reduce taxes to help our businesses continue to thrive and create better opportunity for our citizens.
  • A quality, parent-directed education is the pathway to development of top talent and continued job and economic growth. Our children deserve a strong educational system, and fair competition will always lead to better outcomes.
  • Northwest Arkansas is attractive for many reasons including a low crime rate. I will always support our law enforcement officers who put themselves in harm's way and who work hard every day to make this a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
My experience in state government has shown me the need for strong conservative leadership in the legislature. Left to its own devices, government will grow and become more invasive in people’s personal lives. I know the answer is not more government but less government. Small business and entrepreneurship are the backbone and lifeblood of this region, and I will fight for lower taxes and against the red tape that limits and burdens these businesses. I am 100% pro-life and will fight to defend life of the unborn, protect your 2nd Amendment fundamental rights, and push back against invasive liberal ideology in our schools. I respectfully ask for your support and your vote.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Arkansas

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Arkansas scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.

2024

In 2024, the Arkansas State Legislature was in session from April 10 to May 9.

Legislators are scored on their votes on bills related to small business issues.
