Rebecca Connelly is the chief judge of the Western District of Virginia. When she joined the court on July 11, 2012, she became the court's first female judge. Connelly replaced Judge Ross W. Krumm. Her term will expire on July 10, 2026.[1]

Education

Connelly received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and her J.D. from Washington & Lee University.[2]

Career

Connelly began her career as a law clerk to Martin V.B. Bostetter, Jr. She went on to practice bankruptcy law in Washington, D.C. and Virginia. Next, as an appointed Standing Chapter 13 Trustee, she worked on individual bankruptcy cases and also as an appointed Chapter 12 Trustee, she worked on farm reorganizations in the Western District of Virginia starting in October of 2010.[1]
