Rebecca Edgeworth was born in Las Vegas, and a 3rd generation Nevadan. Born on Nellis Air Force Base, she's a life-long Republican. After medical school, Rebecca did her residency at UMC Hospital in Las Vegas, and has only ever practiced medicine in Las Vegas. As a physician, she has worked exclusively with underserved populations including low-income, uninsured and people experiencing homelessness. Rebecca has worked at Touro University as an educator for medical practitioners, and teaches them clinical practice with community outreach.
  • Healthcare - Nevada's healthcare has many opportunities for improvement. There aren't enough physicians (we are 48th in the country for number of doctors per capita), and we need more providers of all kinds including nurses and other ancillary staff. We need to focus on making Nevada more welcoming of medical personnel, as well as pipeline programs to encourage Nevada's youth to be educated in the medical field.
  • Education - Nevada's education for our children is failing. We need to closely analyze where the education funding is going. We need to work toward better pay for teachers, smaller classrooms, and improved graduation rates. Rebecca believes parents are the best judge of their children's needs, and as such she believes strongly in school choice.
  • Economy - As a life-long conservative, Rebecca believes in small government, decreased taxes and decreased burdensome regulation for business in Nevada.
Policy involving healthcare, homelessness, public safety, economy, and education.
My father served our country for 20+ years in the Air Force and as a civilian. He was the first to go to college in his family, and he taught me a very strong work ethic.
The best compliment I could imagine is being compared to Ronald Reagan in his sense of duty, patriotism, and ultimately wanting our wonderful country and it's constituents to succeed.
Transparency and a genuine interest in helping the people in Nevada to prosper. Officials should be willing to study the issues and negotiate to do what's right for Nevadans. There shouldn't be any ulterior motives for Nevada's civilian legislative members to serve.
I work hard.

I'm going into politics for the right reasons and not for personal gain.

I have always served to help improve the lives of Nevadans, and i view political office as an extension of that.
First and most important, office holders are responsible to do what's right for their district constituents as well as the state of Nevada. Officials should be open to hearing both sides and data before making decisions, and should hold to the principles they were elected on. Officials are ultimately responsible for doing what's best for Nevada and not for what benefits the official.
I would like to be remembered as being reasonable and helping to make Nevada better through impactful legislation. Additionally, i would like to teach our next generation of medical providers to be skilled, ethical and compassionate.
I remember the elevation of Ronald Reagan over Jimmy Carter. I was only 12 years old, but it was the first time i remember paying attention to politics and i remember being very proud of our candidate winning.
I worked as a babysitter for years as a teen. I was able to save money to use after graduation, and it taught me a sense of work ethic and responsibility. I babysat from the age of 12 to 16.
Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment - it's a concise and updated resource I use frequently to stay up to date with every changing medical evidence.
My husband has been very ill for the last several years. It has shown me the struggle that Nevadans have in accessing quality healthcare.
We should all work together to accomplish what's best for the state. Of course there is a division of executive and legislative branches, however we should be working toward common goals.
Healthcare - we need to keep up with the huge expansion in population, and work toward increased access to quality healthcare

Education - We need to be doing a better job educating the youth in Nevada, which will enable us to have a superior workforce and productive adults in the community.

Economy - Our economy needs to improve to allow Nevadans to prosper. This includes spending less on our everyday expenses, as well as businesses prospering with lower taxes and less burdensome regulation.
I believe all kinds of experience is beneficial, however Nevada has a civilian legislature which enables people from diverse backgrounds to come together to help all Nevadans. By spending most of their time working and living in their communities, they are the most able to speak to issues in their district and in their state. Life-long politicians could easily lose touch of the important perspective that real world experience provides.
Absolutely. Being a legislature, by it's very nature, requires that people on both sides work together to do what is right for constituents. By taking the time to listen to both sides of every issues, it will enable us as lawmakers to understand how laws and budgeting will affect all constituents. I believe being able to sit down and work with people on both sides will make for the most balanced and beneficial legislation possible in most cases.
I do not aspire to making a life-long career of politics. I enjoy being a physician and educating.
While door knocking i came across someone in my district who was so concerned about increasing crime in the area that he is reluctant to leave his home to go shopping for groceries. Everyone has a right to feel safe in their neighborhood. This made me even more committed to helping ensure safety in our community.
A horse walks into a bar - the bartender says "Why the long face?"
I would like to introduce a bill to expand access to quality healthcare in Nevada.

I believe all agencies using tax dollars should be required to be fully transparent, especially in the use of funding. As a candidate i am fully transparent with my campaign funds, and I expect at least as much from government agencies and agencies receiving tax dollars.
ID should be required, and voter rolls should be cleaned up to remove people who have moved or died.

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
