Rebecca Thompson (Michigan)
Rebecca Thompson was a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 1 of the Michigan House of Representatives.[1]
Biography
A Detroit, Michigan native, Thompson graduated from the Detroit School of Arts.[2] She went on to earn her B.S. in marketing from Northern Michigan University.[3]
Thompson has dedicated her career to public service. She has worked for nonprofits involving education and youth development. At the time of her candidacy, Thompson was serving as the Senior Director of Engagement for United Way. She has also been active in community organizations such as the NAACP, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the 13th District Young Democrats and the Michigan Democratic Party.[2]

2014
Elections for the Michigan House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. Incumbent Brian Banks defeated six other candidates in the Democratic primary; Rebecca Thompson came in second. John Hauler was unopposed in the Republican primary. Banks defeated Hauler in the general election.[5][6][1][7]
