New Mexico: The recently retired Judge Michael Vigil of the First Judicial District received quite the retirement gift last week. On September 29th, one day after stepping down from the bench, Vigil won a $1 million Powerball prize.[1]
Vigil commented, “This is going to give us a much nicer old age" and said he plans to do some remodeling on his house as well as possibly see Europe.[1]
Judge Vigil was appointed by Gov. Bruce King to the First Judicial District in 1994 and retired from the court on September 28th after 18 years of service.[2]
