July 8, 2009

Vermont: State district judge Christina Reiss was recommended to President Obama for a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Vermont by Senator Patrick Leahy. The Vermont Judicial Nominating Commission vetted eight finalists in the application process, and of them, selected Reiss for recommendation.[1]

If nominated by Obama and confirmed by the Senate, she would fill the seat vacated by Garvan Murtha when he assumed senior status. She would be the first woman to serve on the federal District of Vermont court.[2]
