Redford Township Senior & Police Levy Increases, 2 (February 2012)
Two Redford Township Senior & Police Levy Increase measures were on the February 28, 2012 ballot in the township of Redford which is in Wayne County.
Both measures were defeated
The measure sought to increase the current seniors levy by a rate of $1.37 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a period of twenty years in order to help pay for senior services, parks and recreational costs in the township.
- YES 2,900 (46.48%)
- NO 3,339 (53.52%)
Th second measure sought to create a police and fire assessment district in the township and implement a levy set at a rate of $3.60 per $1,000 of assessed property value for an ongoing amount of time i order to pay for police and fire operational costs.[1]
- YES 2,903 (46.6%)
- NO 3,327 (53.4%)[2]

The question on the ballot:
| Proposition 2: Shall the Charter Township of Redford be authorized to create a Special Assessment District encompassing all the lands within the township pursuant to Public Act 33 of 1951 to continue operating the township’s police department and fire department? The proposed assessment for the first year is estimated to be 3.6 mills, which would equal $3.60 per $1,000 of taxable value of all real property in the township, thereby raising in the first year an estimated $2.8 million. The average assessment in the first year would be approximately $144 for residential property.[3][4] |
