Redistricting in Tennessee likely delayed until 2012

According to Tennessee's Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey, Republicans will likely wait until 2012 to reassign legislative districts for the Tennessee State Senate and Tennessee House of Representatives.[1] This is due largely to the delay involved in receiving and processing the data acquired by the 2010 census.
Republicans picked up 13 seats in the House and 1 seat in the Senate in the November midterm election, making for a sizeable Republican majority in each chamber.

This election marks the first time that Republicans will be in charge of redistricting the state. Never before have Republicans controlled the state's legislature during a time of redistricting.[1]
