Campaign themes

2016

Williams' campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Assure Our Water Security: However, if we allow politicians, bureaucrats, engineers, lawyers, and lobbyist for special interests get together in Austin and develop a “Statewide Water Plan”, then we will be outgunned and our water security will be in jeopardy. Therefore, I oppose a “Statewide Water Plan”. When we use the free market system to match willing sellers with capable buyers, the support for the infrastructure projects will follow.

Control Our Borders/No Amnesty:

Workers are needed in Texas. However, green cards are a pathway to citizenship. No illegal immigrant should be issued a green card. Only legal immigrants should ever hold a green card. Once our border with Mexico is secure, I would support a guest worker program where the worker enters our Country legally and receives a work permit for a job that is e-verified by the employer. The work permit is not a path to a green card or citizenship, but just a permit to work in a specified job for an identified employer.

Establish Term Limits: With the money from special interest, it is almost impossible to defeat incumbents. Term limits are the only way to break this destructive cycle, return your rightful political power, and hold politicians accountable to you.

Grow Jobs: If elected, my principal focus will be on building jobs in Senate District 24 that can support our families. If our families have good jobs our communities will be stable and our future in Senate District 24 secure. To build jobs we must (1) reduce regulation, (2) develop educational partnerships with employers that pull students through the educational system to jobs that will support their families without incurring financially destructive debt, and (3) attract financial investments into Senate District 24.

Support Public Schools/Stop Vouchers/No More Charters: Returning the authority for educating our children to our local school boards, administrators, and our classroom teachers provides a much better chance of improving our traditional public schools. Parents already have a choice. They can become involved in their local schools by running for the school board, working as a volunteer, or more importantly helping their child learn at home. Parents that are involved with their children’s education are exercising a choice to help their own. There is no substitution for parental involvement in the educational process.[5]
