Campaign themes
2014
Kiley's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]
Improving Funding for Public Education
- Excerpt: "Access to a quality public education system prepared me for a career as an attorney. Every child deserves a quality education. I will work to solve the funding crises that has devastated public education in Pennsylvania."
Protecting Our Environment
- Excerpt: "Like you, I am one of the 15 million people who depend on the Delaware River for drinking water, and protecting that resource is a priority to me. I support the 2012 moratorium on fracking in Bucks and Montgomery Counties until the gas companies employ technologies more friendly to the environment. I will work hard to institute fees on the gas-drillers to restore the damaged ecosystem left in their wake.
Marcellus Shale
- Excerpt: "However, any development of Pennsylvania’s natural gas resources must be regulated to ensure environmental protection and be subject to a modest tax (just like other states already impose). I support a ban on drilling in state parks and forests, and in the Delaware River Basin. I support regulations that will close the loopholes in the Safe Drinking Act, Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act."
Jobs
- Excerpt: "I support the expansion of apprenticeship programs to train a new generation of workers for careers in the industrial, construction, and environmental fields. Providing a skilled workforce will ensure that Pennsylvania can keep existing and attract new jobs."
Healthcare
- Excerpt: "Denying health care coverage to Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable residents is wrong. I support the Medicaid expansion that is available through the Affordable Care Act."
