Boddie was a judge on the New York City Civil Court of Kings County, New York from 2010 to 2016.[1]
Education
Boddie received his B.A. from Brown University in 1981 and his J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law in 1984.[1]
Career
Boddie began his career in 1984 as a staff attorney for the civil division of the Legal Aid Society. In 1986, he joined Harlem Legal Services, where he also worked as a staff attorney. He then served as assistant counsel for the Center for Law and Social Justice at Medgar Evers College (City University of New York) from 1988 to 1995. From 1995 until his judicial election in 2009, he worked as a self-employed private practice lawyer under the Law Offices of Reginald Boddie. He also served as a project director for the New York City Bar Association from 2008 to 2009. In 2010, he joined the civil court.[1]

The 324 justices of the New York Supreme Court are elected to 14-year terms in partisan elections. To appear on the ballot, candidates must be chosen at partisan nominating conventions. Sitting judges wishing to serve an additional term must run for re-election.[4]
The chief judge of the court of appeals appoints two chief administrative judges of the supreme court, one to supervise trial courts within New York City and one to supervise trial courts outside of the city.[4]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must:[4]
- be a state resident;
- have had at least 10 years of in-state law practice;
- be at least 18 years old; and
- be under the age of 70 (retirement at 70 is mandatory).
