Reginald Neal is a judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California. Neal assumed office in 2021. Neal's current term ends on January 8, 2029.
Neal won re-election for judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California outright in the primary on June 7, 2022, after the primary and general election were canceled.
Governor Gavin Newsom (D) appointed Neal to the court on September 3, 2021, to replace Gilbert M. Lopez.[1]
Although California Superior Court judges are elected in nonpartisan elections, a press release from Gov. Newsom's office announcing Neal's appointment on September 3, 2021, identified him as a Democrat.[1]
Biography
Neal received his J.D. from the Pacific Coast University School of Law. He worked as an Associate Insurance Compliance Officer at the California Department of Insurance from 2001 to 2005. He then served as a Deputy Attorney at the California Department of Transportation from 2006 to 2008. From 2008 up to his appointment, Neal served as a Deputy District Attorney at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.[1]
