Reinaldo Rivera
Reinaldo E. Rivera was a judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. He assumed office on January 1, 2020. He left office in 2023.
Rivera (Democratic Party, Republican Party, Conservative Party) ran for election for judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. He won in the general election on November 5, 2019.
Biography
Education
Judge Rivera was born on June 15, 1951 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He received a B.S. degree from St. Peter's College in 1973, a J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law in 1976, and an LL.M. (masters of law) degree from Columbia University School of Law in 1977.[1][2]
Career
Judge Rivera began his legal career in 1977 as a private practice attorney. He worked in this capacity until 1991, practicing in the areas of Criminal Defense, Civil litigation, Matrimonial and Family Law, Administrative Law, Real Estate and Commercial Business Transactions, and Surrogate Court matters. On November 5, 1991, he was elected to the Supreme Court of the State of New York, 2nd Judicial District. He took office on January 2, 1992 and was re-elected on November 8, 2005. He now serves in the Appellate Division.[1][2]
