Reitman v. Mulkey
Reitman v. Mulkey is a court case adjudicated by the United States Supreme Court in 1967. In it, the court ruled that California Proposition 14 (1963) was unconstitutional. Proposition 14, which banned fair housing acts on the part of state or local government, had passed in the wake of the Rumford Act, a newly-enacted state law prohibiting racial discrimination in the sale or rental of part of the state's housing.
