I am Renee Lord, a proud conservative, a wife, mother of three, and a UGA graduate with a heart for both education and entrepreneurship. After teaching middle and high school students, my husband and I purchased a diesel truck repair shop and now operate five locations. My career has let me see firsthand the value of a high quality edcuation and hands-on work.

I spent over a decade of my life volunteering to help children in our state receive the highest quality education. I also have served on a statewide school board which served over 10,000 students.

Currently, I am deeply involved in Barrow County. I serve on the board of Young Life Barrow and am a member of the Barrow Area Rotary Club and the Barrow Chamber of Commerce. I also participate in Leadership Barrow and volunteer with Cooperative Extension and Habitat for Humanity.
I believe my experience in the classroom, as a business owner, and through my service to our community, I have gained the knowledge and skills to represent the taxpayers of Barrow County on the Board of Education.
  • I will ensure our students receive an unbiased, high quality education in a safe environment. I want every Barrow County graduate to be prepared for their next step whether it's further education, enlisting in the armed forces, or starting their career.
  • I will be a good steward of your hard-eaned tax dollars. I will never forget that as a school board member, I am spending your money. I want to foster transparency and accountablity.
  • I will work to ensure our teachers and district employees are supported in their classrooms and in their careers. I will support efforts to promote from within the Barrow County School System.
I am passionate about lowering taxes, increasing opportunities for students and teachers, and an unbiased curriculum.
I greatly admire Dr. Anne Sweaney for her guidance and mentorship. She introduced me to the power of individual action by encouraging me to run for the UGA University Council, helped me secure a job as a tutor with the UGA Athletic Department, and inspired me to serve as a legislative aide. Her support and insights have been invaluable, shaping both my personal and professional growth.
An elected official must prioritize availability to constituents, seek reliable information for informed decisions, and demonstrate honesty and frugality. These qualities build trust and ensure effective representation.
The core responsibilities include establishing clear policies, ensuring the superintendent follows them, and constantly seeking cost-effective ways to enhance student success in the classroom.
The Space Shuttle Challenger explosion was a significant event for my family because my mother worked on components of the shuttle, and we followed the space program closely.
I worked as a waitress at the Georgia Mountain Restaurant in Hiawassee, Georgia. I began working there my junior year of high school and through my first two years of school at Young Harris College.
