In Hawaii’s Republican caucus on March 8, 2016, Donald Trump won 11 delegates, Ted Cruz won seven, and Marco Rubio won one. RNC Rules Committee members

Each state and territorial delegation selected one male and one female delegate to sit on the RNC Rules Committee, a 112-member body responsible for crafting the rules that governed the 2016 Republican National Convention's proceedings. The Rules Committee members from Hawaii were Nathan Paikai and Miriam Hellreich.

Hawaii GOP bylaws in 2016 required presidential candidates to form a Hawaii Leadership Committee that was responsible for selecting Hawaii Republican Party members to fill any national delegates won by the candidate in the caucus contests. Delegates from Hawaii were to remain bound to their candidate through the first round of voting at the convention, unless their candidate "withdrew" prior to the convention.

Delegate allocation

Hawaii had 19 delegates at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Of this total, six were district-level delegates (three for each of the state's two congressional districts). District-level delegates were allocated proportionally in accordance with the caucus results in a given congressional district.

Of the remaining 13 delegates, 10 served at large. At-large delegates were allocated proportionally in accordance with the statewide caucus results. In addition, three national party leaders (identified on the chart below as RNC delegates) served as bound delegates to the Republican National Convention.
