As of 2016, Restaurateurs for a Strong Maine Economy (RFSME) was the PAC of the Maine Restaurant Association based in Augusta, Maine. The committee opposed Maine's 2016 Minimum Wage Increase Initiative, Question 4.[1]

Mission

According to RFSME's website, the committee's mission was as follows:[2]

Restaurateurs for a Strong Maine Economy is the Maine Restaurant Association's Political Action Committee (PAC). Our "PAC" allows Maine Restaurant Association members and member's employees to financially support candidates who support our industry. Our PAC is the "on the record, ethical system for supporting candidates and industry issues.[3]

Background

As of 2016, the Restaurateurs for a Strong Maine Economy (RFSME) was a PAC registered in the state of Maine and affiliated with the Maine Restaurant Association based in Augusta, Maine.[2][1] The committee supported ballots, candidates, and policies that help "support issues affecting the restaurant and hospitality industry in Maine."[2]

In October 2015, the Bangor Daily News reported that the RFSME gave $250 to David Nealley, a candidate for Bangor city council.[4] Nealley opposed Maine's Minimum Wage Increase Initiative, which was on the 2016 ballot in Maine.[4]
