PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island: Senate President Teresa Paiva-Weed (D) and Speaker of the House Gordon Fox (D) each survived stiff challenges from opponents to keep their seats, and now their caucuses have nominated them to each keep their respective leadership positions.[1]
Both Fox and Paiva-Weed must be confirmed by a vote of each chamber at the beginning of the 2013 session, but given the overwhelming majorities that Democrats hold, the votes will merely be formalities.[2]
