PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island: The Rhode Island State Senate voted to approve same-sex marriage last week. The vote passed 26 to 12 and could take effect as early as August 1.[1]
The bills now advances to the house, which previously voted 51 to 19 to pass an earlier version of one of the bills.[1]
If the bills pass, Rhode Island would become the tenth state to approve same-sex marriage, and the last state in New England to approve it.[1]
